Acupuncture and Cosmetic Acupuncture in Reading, Berkshire and Basingstoke, Hampshire

Gerda Ankenbauer-Spetch, BSc (Hons), Lic Ac, MBAcC of Healing the Whole You is a fully qualified, licensed and insured Acupuncturist and Cosmetic Acupuncturist and a Member of the British Acupuncture Council and also Cosmetic Acupuncture UK who currently practises in Reading in Berkshire and Basingstoke in Hampshire.  She is hoping to be working from premises in Theale in Berkshire soon.

She graduated from the renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine  in Reading where the tutors are amongst the best practitioners of Chinese Medicine in the Western World after completing a three-and-a-half year Bachelor of Science Honours Degree course in Acupuncture. 

At the College, Gerda was taught both Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), where the focus is on the patient’s ailment, and Five Element Acupuncture, where the patient is seen as a whole, thus incorporating the best of both these systems of Chinese Medicine.  Gerda is, therefore, able to offer holistic treatments where the whole person is treated on a physical, mental and emotional level rather than just the symptoms of a disease, illness or injury, hence Healing the Whole You.

She has also undergone post-graduate training in Cosmetic Acupuncture and Neuro-Muscular Taping, amongst other courses. 

After a successful career in IT and IT Audit, Gerda came to Acupuncture through personal experience of its power as the Healer of the Whole You.  It helped her tremendously through the very difficult period of her husband’s illness and death and gave her the strength to carry on.  When the time came to decide what to do with her life, she wanted to give something back and give other people the opportunity to benefit from the healing power of Acupuncture. 

In her practice, she has seen what Acupuncture can do to heal a person’s mind, body and spirit and help to make them whole again, especially after a bereavement, divorce or stress in personal or working life as well as with a wide range of physical ailments and pain. 

The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC)

The British Acupuncture Council is a registering body for professional acupuncturists whose aim is to ensure the health and safety of the public at all times.  This is done by maintaining high standards of education, ethics, discipline and practice.  Acupuncturists registered with the British Acupuncture Council carry the letters MBAcC after their name.

Gerda Ankenbauer-Spetch is a BAcC member and hence, you can be sure that she:

• has completed a first degree level training in traditional acupuncture including appropriate elements of western medical sciences, or its equivalent
• abides by the Council’s Code of Safe Practice and Code of Professional Conduct
• complies with current health and safety legislation
• is covered by full Professional Indemnity and Public/Products Liability insurance
• updates her practice skills by following an individual programme of continuing professional development.
